Microsoft’s Active Desktop Gallery offers a couple of dozen, including a jukebox, entertainment news, clocks, technical updates and the usual assortment of stock tickers, news feeds and weather info. If you’re more adventurous, you can create your own Desktop component by coding it in HTML or ActiveX.
